Redevelopment Moratorium
Two big words that show the Clark County Council listened to the concerns of our park residents and others to take immediate action to allay worries about mobile and manufactured home parks being turned into high-density condos or commercial uses.
The two words that turned the tide in our favor are affordable housing. That has been the buzz word phrase with local governments for a long time now and was apparently the main rational behind the Council action.
That action was to pass an emergency ordinance to pause any county action that could lead to redevelopment or loss of existing mobile or manufactured home parks in unincorporated Clark County. That is, the ordinance does not apply to parks within a city. The pause is only for 6 months and the county must hold a public hearing within 60 days.
We owe a huge thanks to those who organized our appearance at the County Council meeting on August 5th and a sincere Thanks to those who made the effort to turn out. It was a good showing of support and we will want to increase the numbers for the formal public hearing when it is called.
